Swimming season is coming soon! Here are some more testimonials from parents that have their children in our Superior Swim Lessons:
"After more than 2 years of paying for swim lessons across town, and my 3 year old still unable to even put his face in by himself, I gave up. He had zero interest in water, even for fun. I told him as soon as he learned to float on his back, he could quit. It was time to get serious about water safety, so I asked around and heard Miss Deane could get kids swimming in weeks. I was skeptical with my son, but scheduled 2 private lessons. By the second lesson, he was enjoying the water. By our second group class, he was doing turtle arms and gleefully swimming 3 feet. Now, just 5 weeks in, he gets excited about swimming and talks about being a "swim racer". I never believed that it was possible for my child to become a swimmer. But Miss Deane made it possible.

"Miss Deane is one of the finest swim teachers we have come across. Both my kids are blessed to get training from her. She is very professional, disciplined and at the same time makes it fun for the kids. If we have to recommend someone for swim lessons in the valley it would be Miss Deane and just her as we know it's the best choice - we adore her and she puts more then 100% in each and every kid.

More comments from parents that have their children in our Superior Swim Lessons:
"I sent my son to swimming lessons off and on since he was a year old. I went to another organization in our valley and while they were professional I found my son made minimal progress over the three years. I finally decided it was time to try something different and I had heard about this amazing instructor form Superior Athletic Club.
On my son's first day I was stunned. My first impression was wow, this lady takes learning to swim very seriously. From the moment he started my son knew getting into the water is something not to be taken lightly. She insisted he would not be allowed to enter a pool without asking for permission first. As a mother with family members who have pools I thought to myself what a great idea. I have been fortunate since to date my son has never jumped in a pool; however, I have family member that has had their children run and jump in a pool and they were unable to swim. From there the lesson just got better. My son was extremely afraid of being in the water and was challenged by her to push himself she said "It is okay to be afraid but not okay to not try". He was afraid and the mother in me just wanted to pull him out of the pool and say we can't do this. In one 30 minute lesson I watched my son do things he had never done before. We came back and for the next 3 or 4 lessons each day my sons was afraid but I just felt this was important. Every time he went he made huge progress. Literally in a little over a month my son went from being afraid to getting in the pool on his own to swimming. I was so impressed that I continued his lessons over the summer. By the end of the summer he was doing laps in an Olympic sized pool with my husband. People would say "wow how old is he?, he swims so well". My son is four but he the reason he swins so well is because he went to Miss Deane. I have referred Miss Deane to my friends and they love her. My son still has her once a week for swim lessons since she is so good at teaching swimming.
As a mother, knowing my son can swim well is such a relief. My advice to anyone wanting to teach their child to swim is if you truly want them to learn quickly and care about the quality of the instruction then Miss Deane is the best person for you. She truly is an amazing instructor and I will be in her debt for what she has taught my son.

"We have been participating in swim lessons with Miss Deane for under three months and the change we have seen in our daughter has been absolutely amazing. My daughter is 2 1/2 years old and has never had a swim lessons before. Our first class she cried and was very nervous and in only a matter of a few lessons Miss Deane had bonded with Lucy and not only made her comfortable but excited to be in the water. That alone was worth putting her into class. In just a few short months she can float on her back, swim unaided for a stretch of time, jump off of the side of the pool and swim back to the wall by herself. I am thrilled and amazed at the progress. Miss Deane leads with firm confidence and removes fear and instills excitement and confidence. Her no nonsense approach is exactly what my daughter needed to excel. While Miss Deane runs a tight ship she is fun and loving toward my daughter. My daughter asks daily when she can go to Miss Deane's class and even wakes up in the middle of the night sometimes asking for swim class! We could not be happier with Miss Deane and the progress our daughter has made and is making!

More comments from parents that have their children in our program at Superior Athletic Club.
"I have known Deane Wilson for over three years as my children have been taking swim lessons with Ms Wilson at Superior Athletic Club. Both of my children who are 11 years old and 6 years old progress rapidly in their swimming ability with Ms Wilson's program. (I also have two older children (20 and 18 years old) and therefore had a lot of experiences with different swimming programs at different institutions including the YMCA (in Marin county, CA and Medford, OR), the Hawthorne pool, ABK, etc…)
I am extremely impressed with Ms Wilson's knowledge of children and her mastering of the art of teaching and the sport of swimming and her success with children:
~ Ms Wilson makes swimming fun through games and languages that meet children where they are at
~ Ms Wilson communicates extremely well with children as she brings the information to their level of
understanding and consciousness. In addition, Ms Wilson is firm with children about her expectations
without being strict or severe, which makes children respect her and listen to her instructions
carefully.
~ Ms Wilson is very patient with children and introduces swimming skills gradually and keeps adding
them on. Ms Wilson produces amazing success in introducing difficult techniques to young children.
Her students advance rapidly in developing correct stokes. She is great at building the children's
confidence in their ability to function in the water safely. She never requires children to do anything
that they are not comfortable doing in the water.
~ Ms Wilson teaches important water safety skills in addition to swimming techniques. She teaches
them how to handle different situations, i.e., how to rest in the water or how to use the back stroke
when they are tired. She is excellent at removing children's fear of being in water and makes the
children understand water safety rules, in addition to helping them feel safe and be self-sufficient
in the water.
~ Ms Wilson is excellent at organizing her lessons and teaching a large group with multiple levels
of skills.
~ Ms Wilson is very flexible in allowing for make-up lessons and work with parents on changing
the schedule when the need arises.
Ms Wilson is the best swimming instructor I have ever met in the last 15 years, I am glad that she is
part of the team of instructors at Superior Athletic Club. Her many talents are great gifts to children learning how to swim. I highly recommend her to any parent who are looking for a good swimming program.
Sincerely,

"Hi Miss Deane,
Here's Peyton's swim story.
We were on vacation at the Disneyland Hotel. Peyton (4, almost 5) wanted to go down the biggest of their watersides, but they only allow one person at a time. When he reached the bottom and came up, he tried to swim to the side of the pool, rather than the end where the stairs were. At that point he got caught in the current and wasn't making any progress. The lifeguard looked at my husband and said "We're going to have to go in and get him out." My husband told the lifeguard to wait, and just give him a minute. He then yelled "Peyton, TURTLES ARMS!" Peyton immediately started doing turtle arms, and got out of the current. They were the most beautiful turtle arms I'd ever seen! The lifeguard was shocked and said to us "I have NEVER seen a kid get out of that current before." He was totally impressed. And so were we. This situation really make it click with Peyton, and he sees how doing turtle arms makes all the difference in the world.
Thank you Miss Deane for teaching our son this valuable lesson. It really is the BEST way to teach our kids to swim!

Comments from Students and parents that have their children in our Superior Swim Lessons.
"It is a rare teacher that can be as equally effective with two-year olds as well as 73 year olds. Miss Deane is one of those people! It was my good fortune to take a swimming lesson from her. She immediately spotted some things I could do to improve my performance in the pool - or the ocean- after reinforcing what I was doing correctly. Even though I have been swimming for about 65 years, I believe there is always room for improvement.
Miss Deane is positive, fun and firm. The combination is perfect. I have often watched her teaching very young children and see those qualities on display each time. As a retired teach (English, not swimming!) I can recognize good teaching and the qualities one needs to use for the best results. Her teaching allows her students to know how to become their best!
It is a pleasure to recommend Miss Deane without reservation!

"My daughter, Bella is 4 and a half years old, we have been to SEVERAL different locations for "swimming lessons" however never has she learned any swimming techniques! I was so tired of paying people to "play" with toys with my daughter instead of teaching her basic water survival at minimum.
Then I found Miss Deane at Superior Athletic Club. She should be the ONLY swimming teacher in Rogue Valley - why? Because Miss Deane teaches children to SWIM!!!!!
Bella has gone for nearly a full month of twice a week group lessons and one private lesson and as of today, 26th day of March, Bella has gained so much confidence, she would never ever jump into the pool, or "Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall" and then fall into the water, TODAY she did so many Humpty Dumptys that I lost count! And for the first time, she jumped into the pool! I was so thrilled that she is finally jumping in without fear. Mis Deane has instilled a "trust" for Bella and Bella knows it, and she continues to do "Turtle Arms" and "Flap Flap Kick Kick" even at home after her baths. She remembers and she talks about swimming with Miss Deane every day!
Miss Deane, you are a sweetheart for having the patients and skills to teach my Bella to swim and I can not thank you enough.
A month ago when we came into the pool for the first time, Bella was not having any part of falling into and definitely not jumping into the pool! There was not much cooperation on Bella's part in the pool. I am so thrilled with her progress and your work with her, that I think we'll just keep doing lessons until she is ready for the Olympics!
You will forever have my heartfelt thanks for working with Bella - as you are the one person who is "teaching her to swim".
Sincerely,
Sandy Cathey"

Here are more comments from parents that have their children in our Superior Swim Program:
"To whom it may concern....
I'm writing this as a completely unsolicited opinion/review of the quality of the swim lessons my child has received at Superior Athletic Club under the tutelage of Deane Wilson, or "Miss Deane" as she's known to her students.
My son Brodie started lessons just after turning 3, right around the end of April/beginning of May of 2013. Twice a week, for a half hour at a time he was in the pool initially learning basic survival techniques. I myself used to teach many of these same techniques while on active duty in the Marine Corps (CWSS) so I'm quite familiar with the utility of what my son was being taught. The important thing Deane was teaching was not to fear the water, and not to panic should one find oneself in the water.
Things were progressing well and on Memorial Day weekend, while at our family cabin Brodie managed to fall into the Coquille River and got swept off into the current. I was right there so he was only in the water for probable 10-15 seconds but he immediately did exactly what he was supposed to do, which was roll over on his back, kick off his crocs, and begin doing his "Flap-Flap-Kick-Kick" routine to stay afloat. Mind you, it had only been approximately 4 or so weeks and he'd already learned enough to stay afloat till I could get to him and he never once succumbed to panic. In fact, he wasn't really scared at all. The following week he was right back in the pool as if nothing had happened.
Deane Wilson manages her students well, which is crucial for a child like my Son, who is somewhat spirited and stubborn and will eat overly permissive adults alive. She keeps the kids on task and actively learning but keeps the class fun and engaging at the same time. It can't be easy managing a bunch of kids in a swimming pool but she does so with aplomb.
Thanks to Miss Deane the only casualty from the Memorial Day incident was the Crocs which floated down the river, and nearly my iPhone, but luckily quick thinking and a bag of rice fixed that right up.
Considering our cabin is roughly 25 miles from the nearest medical assistance, it could have been much much worse.

"My 22m old has been taking swim lessons with Miss Deane for 3 months. We were getting ready to go swimming, I was getting my older child ready, and my 22m old was beside me on the step, he slipped and fell into the pool, "gasp!" My husband and I both went to grab him out of the water, but I fought every instinct to grab him, and I told my husband, "no! leave him, I want to see what he does." He turned himself around underwater and swam back to the steps!!! We praised him, he was fine, got him ready for the pool and he jumped in!
Thank you Miss Deane!!!"

Swim lessons start back up on September 3, 2013. Please call Deane Wilson at 541-779-7529 ext 381
to sign up your children or yourself.
Lessons are given at 727 Cardley Avenue, Medford, OR97524. Monday through Saturday.
Here are some more comments from parents that have had their children in the Superior Swim Program:
"Summer of 2013 my kids are 9 and 5. We had never had access to a pool long enough to get swimming lessons until now. We live way out in the middle of nowhere. So for the very first time we were able to get both our kids in for 5 days of swimming lessons. We were very excited when we found Miss Deane and read her reviews. She sounded like a great swimming instructor. Day one:
with both kids afraid of the water. She got them to get in the water within the first minute and they were floating on noodles, the 5 year old both noodle and arm floats. By the end of the first lesson 9 year old was swimming across half the pool with the help of a noodle and blowing short bursts of bubbles. The 5 year old has put the arm floats on the side of the pool and was comfortable using only the noodle. Day two: Just noodles today they both did great, Miss Deane is amazing. In just two days she transformed 2 kids from being afraid of the water to enjoying it. They are now jumping in the water from the side of the pool. Day three and four: Both kids are swimming short distances with no flotation devises. They are also learning to float on their backs and are more comfortable with putting their faces in the water. My 9 year old started swimming short distances underwater after just 3 lessons. Day five: My 5 year old swam through a hula hoop underwater today.
I am amazed that in just 5 lessons they can go from being afraid of the water to being able to swim underwater. My 9 year old now a few weeks later jumps in the river near our house and swims back to shore. There just aren't enough words to describe how amazing Miss Deane is. She doesn't allow them to say "I can't" she has them say "I'll try." We plan to have our kids take more lessons from her soon. I can't wait and neither can the kids. We love you Miss Deane!!! Thank you!"

More comments from parents that have children in the Superior Swim Lesson Program:
"My four year old has been in swim lessons off and on for about two years and was not even comfortable on a noodle. It seemed like her previous lessons were just play time, or the class was too large and chaotic. By her fourth lesson with Miss Deane she was swimming half the length of the pool all on her own. She was comfortable rolling on her back and swimming unassisted. I was amazed!
Ms Deane is able to judge exactly how hard to push the kids without making them panic. She has the right balance of tough swim time and fun time to keep the kids entertained and challenged. Lastly, I think it is clear that Ms Deane's goal is to make sure kids are safe in the water. That is what I appreciate the most! 5 stars and 2 thumbs up for Ms Deane!!!"
"I am so thankful that I stumbled upon Miss Deane's swim class two months ago. I was googling private swim lessons for my boys and Miss Deane popped up. I read the other testimonials of moms, and they all had similar experiences that I have been going through, trying to find an instructor that would teach my children how to swim.
My boys have to know how to swim, it's not an option, their grandparents have a small lake out their back door, I don't want my boys to be a victim of drowning. And thanks to Miss Deane they won't be!
My oldest boy who is 3 1/2, and who has been in swim class since he was 8 months old!, could not swim at all, also he was terrified of the water if I wasn't in it with him.
Mommy and me classes are nothing but a disservice to you and your child.
After 1 1/2 months of swimming with Miss Deane my 3 1/2 year old is jumping into the water turns onto his back and floats and swim on his back, all by himself!!! He jumps into the water, turns around and swims back to the wall, while putting his face in the water and blowing bubbles!!! All this without any floatation device! He loves swimming, no longer afraid!
My 1 1/2 year old, who also has been in swim class since he was 8 months old, swims the length of the pool with his arm floaters on, Miss Deane has to bring him back to the class, he loves the water! He jumps into the pool turns around and swims back to the wall, puts his face in the water and blows
bubbles while swimming!
Miss Deane is an amazing swim instructor, she's taught my boys how to swim and to be safe in the water. And she really enjoys the kids and what she's doing with them, my boys are excited about swimming now. The first 3 lessons my boys were screaming because they didn't want to be in the water, I had other members yell at me to get them out of the water, because they were so disruptive, now the 1 1/2 year old is crying when the lesson is over, I have to drag him away from the pool.
My 3 1/2 year old can't wait for the next class!
Thank you Miss Deane!!!

"Before swim lessons with Miss Deane, my two children were afraid of the water and would not go in without a life vest or arm floaters. Neither one would put their heads in the water or liked being splashed in the face. After just one lesson my daughter put her face underwater, blew bubbles and emerged with a huge smile on her face. I was proud and absolutely amazed! The day of their fourth swimming lesson was a Saturday, so I decided after the lesson to take them to a local swimming pool. They both jumped into the pool fearlessly and swam around as though they'd been swimming for years!
My daughter swam around in deep water expertly, while my son swam underwater for long distances with the most perfect form and technique I'd ever seen on a six year old. His turtle arms were magnificent!! I absolutely and without any doubt recommend Miss Deane to all parents with children who are looking for a swim instructor. It's every parent's nightmare to have a child who can not swim, I now breather a great sigh of relief. I can't thank you enough Miss Deane, for what you do for our children.
Most Sincerely,
Vivian Garcia, mother of Sabina 9 yrs. old and Magnus 6 yrs. old"
"My four year old has been in swim lessons off and on for about two years and was not even comfortable on a noodle.
