Why wait until the summer months to provide swim lessons for my loved ones?
The benefits of fall/winter swim lessons are numerous.
* class sizes are smaller which means more time is spent with each student
* provides for total body exercise on those cold and rainy days of winter
* fun activity for all members of the family
* students will be ready for the sun filled water days of summer

Here are some recent comments from parents that provide their children with swim lessons during the fall and winter months.
I enrolled my daughter, Brenna, into swim lessons at a different facility when she was 4. She is now 6 1/2. She had group swim lessons twice a week during the school year and unfortunately came out of that without learning how to swim and still very afraid of the water. I enrolled her in another 6 week class during the summer, thinking that I would give it another try. At the end of that additional 6 week class I found that she was still terrified of the water and still didn't know how to swim. I look back now and realize she wasn't excited to go to swim class. She was full of anxiety, however, I felt it was important to continue because I feel learning how to swim could one day save her life. Brenna's first lesson with Miss Deane was a very proud moment for Mom! Mainly because I saw how proud Brenna was of herself. She was swimming on her first lesson. A little nervous - but
SWIMMING! Her next lesson was even better. Not so nervous and swam her little heart out. She even jumped in without a flotation device on - something she never did at the other facility. Brenna has a blast in Miss Deane's swim class and looks
forward to each and every lesson - with excitement! Thank you Miss Deane! You are a amazing teacher!

Our seven-year old son, who is mildly autistic, had spent almost one year in group lessons without being able to put his face in the water or letting go of his grip on his teachers. In short, he was no close to feeling comfortable swimming than when he had started group lessons. In six half-hour private lessons with Deane Wilson, he is now voluntarily blowing bubbles, opening his eyes underwater, and "turtle swimming" the length of a 25 yard pool, without the aid of a flotation device. Deane understands our son's apprehensions, but continuously cheers him on and inspires him to overcome his inner blocks by pushing him out of this comfort zone while respecting his fears. She does so with radiant facial and vocal expressions that are critical cues for many autistic children, but simultaneously continues to set goals for our son, always setting the bar higher and never settling for mediocrity or lack of effort. We would enthusiastically and gratefully recommend Deane as a teacher and an inspiration.
