Fall and winter swim lessons at Superior Athletic Club

Check out more comments from parents that have their children in our swim programs here at Superior Athletic Club:

"Ms. Deane does not teach kids how to swim. She teaches kids how to respect, enjoy, be comfortable, and thrive in the water. Our own 4 year-old twin boys had taken lessons prior to joining Ms. Deane. They were not progressing as quickly as we expected, nor did they appear to be having as much fun. Their first series of lessons with Ms. Deane was an awakening. She required them to ask:"Pool please?", whiched helped them understand that they needed to follow certain rules when swimming. They went on to learn the "penguin swim", "starfish", "rainbow arms", and "missiles" as their strokes in fun, "kid-friendly" language. Through the following lessons, they truly began to develop. Now a year later, and still only 5, they can swim so well that even lifeguards have commented in amazement at their ability for such a young age. My wife and I are comforted in knowing that they can enjoy the water safely, and it has proved to unexpectedly enhance our family outings and vacations. We attribute much of our boys aquatic success to having Ms. Deane as their instructor, and we whole-heartedly recommend her to other parents for their children's lessons."

"Deane is a superb swimming coach because she builds character & sportsmanship in her students. Before meeting Deane, my 9-year-old daughter swam in another facility but she struggled with her strokes & considered withdrawing from swimming lessons. However, when I learned about Deane from Superior Athletic & enrolled my daughter in Deane's swimming class, my daughter gained more confidence & enthusiasm in the pool. Deane's expert mentoring skills have revived my daughter's renewed passion in swimming to immeasurable heights. After having swum with Deane for over a year, my daughter has recently transitioned to the swim team for competitive training. Thank you, Deane, the world over, for your devotion in developing young leaders demonstrating excellence in the water & beyond the margins of the pool in life's grand arena."

"I'm one of those moms that spent too much money on swim lessons that didn't stick. You can understand my joy when I found Miss Deane and saw my money put to good use! Once my two girls were under her instruction, it was remarkable how quickly they learned to swim. I must add that her instruction includes great techniques that gets kids using good form. I loved this because bad habits can be difficult to break. Miss Deane is also gifted with pushing kids beyond what they think they are able to accomplish. This was true with my girls. With that said, both girls love to swim and are still swimming with the Superior Stingrays! Thanks you, Miss Deane!

Superior Swim Lessons at Superior Athletic Club

Here are some more testimonials from students and parents that have had  great swimming instructions from the staff of Superior Athletic Club.

"I had been an non-swimmer for over 6 decades when I started lessons with Deane Wilson. I was looking for a healthy, fun way to keep in shape that would be easy on my joints. I decided swimming would fit the bill, but I had one problem, I didn't know how....
Miss Wilson is a swimming instructor who know how to listen. She addressed all of my questions, concerns and yes, anxieties and fears, in a calm thoughtful and helpful manner.
I would heartily recommend her to any adult looking to take up or improve their skills in swimming"

"We cannot say enough great things about swimming lessons with Miss Deane! Lola started
swimming lessons when she was 1 1/2 years old and just 7 months later she was already swimming without any floaties or flippers. Lola talks about "swimming with Miss Deane" every day and practices her special swimming stokes in every body of water she encounters. Not only has she learned to swim, but also about safety in and around the water-which are invaluable. Miss Deane has an amazingly unique gift with all ages and we recommend her to everyone we know!"
-Jody Zurite, Mother of Lola, Age 2

"Hi Deane,

Wanted to tell you about my daughter, Makayla. She entered the YMCA kids run & swim race this past weekend. It's a 1 mile run & 200 yard swim in their pool. She was in 3rd place after the run & upon entering the pool made up that gap quickly. She was the only kid doing fip turns & would do the back stroke when she got tired. She ended up winning the race. When we asked her why she thought she won, she said it was because of her swim coach Casey.
She has been with Casey for some time and it shows. He has had a big influence on her swimming. Please pass this along to Casey with a big "THANK YOU".

Thanks again, Mark Peterson

Here are some more comments from customers that have brought their loved ones in for swim lessons:

"There is an amazing swimming instructor at Superior Athletic Club. Her name is Miss Deane. She taught my grandson to swim. She taught him to be safe in water. She taught him to have FUN in the water. But most important, she taught him that when something looks difficult, if you will only TRY, you can do it. And the feeling you get when you accomplish difficult things is the best natural high in the world! My little grandson has esperienced that feeling, and I know that his positive swimming experience will impact his approach to difficult things in his future. He loves the water now, but it hasn't come easily! He was so scared!

Miss Deane is a "no nonsense" teacher. She has rules. You must always ask to enter the pool. "Pool, please, Miss Deane". You never say, "No" to Miss Deane. You say, "I will try, Miss Deane". I can't is a big no-no.
But she is always right by your side, in case you flounder. My six year old grandson really didn't know what to do with her. She meant what she said. And she wouldn't let him get away with "I'm scared". Uh-oh. He had to try.

Because of his sheer terror, my older grandson has been a challenge to teach. But Miss Deane has been SO patient. She never let him get away with any of his usual tricks! AND IT WORKED. He is swimming and loving it! He remembers when he was afraid of water. And he tells me, "But I'm older now, and I know that you just have to keep doing it. Then you learn how!" I'm trying very hard NOT to say "I told you so!" Truly, if you want your kids to learn to swim, take them to Miss Deane at Superior Athletic. Club. She has worked nothing short of a MIRACLE with my grandson.

Thank you Miss Deane.
Lonnie Fernald"

"I enrolled my children in a swim class at Superior Athletic. Club, their instructor is Miss Deane, she is wonderful with the kids and she had my 3 year old swimming on his own by the third lesson.

Miss Deanes' methods are great for the kids, my son, now immediately goes into the turtle swim when he hits the water. Miss Deane has also improved my 7 year old daughters swimming, she already knew how to swim but had no form, she is now doing laps like a pro. I have much more confidence whn my children are in the water. Thank you Miss Deane!!"

Are you paying for play time instead of swim lessons?

The students in our program learn fast to think for themselves in the water.

Please read recent comments from parents that have children in our Superior Swim Lessons Program:

"Colton's Story"

"After being enrolled for a few months at another facility, I stopped swim lessons a year ago with my twins because they were already very comfortable in the water. After getting a referral to Ms. Deane from a family friend, explaining she taught more about safety than the "water play" that we had been paying for, I decided to try again. After just a few months of swim, I was so impressed with the progress my two year old twins had made, I knew I had made the right choice. However, it was after my son had a nightmare, that I knew Ms. Deane had actually made a potentially life saving impression on my child. The morning after my son awoke screaming and scared, my husband asked him what had scared him.. he told us he was fishing, "oh" I said, "and why was that scary, did you fall in the water" and his exact words were "No, if Colton fall in the water, he flap, flap, kick, kick, penguin swim and starfish." I was amazed at the fact that he actually had a plan in his head of what he would do if he ever fell in, and that falling in the water was not scary thought to him. That, is what I would call priceless. Thank you Ms. Deane for all that you do!"

Colton and Isabella (Two years old)
Students of Ms. Deane

Two summers spent at the YMCA taking swimming lessons and my daughter, Emily, had made very little progress. I was looking for someone new and we found Miss Deane. Thank goodness! She was an answer to my prayers! Before Miss Deane, Emily wouldn't put her face in the water and she still used floaties. By the middle of her first lesson Emily ditched the floaties and was face down in the water! I am so happy with her progress and she says how much she LOVES swim lessons. Emily's confidence in herself and her swimming ability has skyrocketed - all thanks to Miss Deane and her "no nonsense" approach. Run, don't walk, to sign up for swimming lessons with Miss Deane!

More comments from parents that have their children in our swim program:

"My wife and I are so pleased we found Deane Wilson at Superior Athletic Club for swimming lessons. Our six year old daughter was scared of being in the water without being constantley held by an adult. We tried several teachers around town but she was not making any progress and her swimming lessons often ended in tears. Deane's fun and consistent encouragement combined with her clear expectations has made all the difference. Our daughter now looks forward to swimming and loves seeing Deane each week. Her confidence, inside and outside the pool, has increased and she is more willing to undertake other challenges after conquering her fear of the water. Joe Davis"

"Miss Deane has worked tirelessly to teach my very strong-willed daughter to swim. The reults are nothing short of amazing! Her consistent approach is dependable and predictable. My daughter knows that try as she might, she must put forth her best effort and Miss Deane expects nothing less of her. Miss Deane celebrates her successes and makes my daughter feel like a star when she reaches each swimming milestone. I wish we had started swimming lessons with Miss Deane from the very beginning! Thank you again for all you have done and are doing to keep her swimming! Kelly"

"Swim lessons with Miss Deane have been a blessing in many ways. My nine year old son went from having no swimming skills to being able to swim with grace and style in multiple strokes. He went from being tentative (fearful) of swimming to confident and enthusiatic about swimming. The whole body workout while swimming has also given him a wonderful outlet for all the energy he has. He has taken lessons with Miss Deane for 3 months, three times a week. I believe the instruction and frequency of lessons play a huge role in his amazing progress. Swim lessons with Miss Deane have given him many skills he will use in his lifetime. Kelly, Mother of Abrahm"

"In two months of lessons with Miss Deane my son has made up for years of fruitless summer-time swim lessons. My 9 year old son has had numerous summer lessons through the Parks and Rec Dept. I know each time has been helpful, (he
has had some water fears) but he still had not learned how to swim. Imagine the shock I felt seeing him actually
swimming (an easy free-style!) during just his third lesson with Miss Deane. Miss Deane teaches in a no-nonsense, yet fun, sort of way. She uses very amusing and easy-to-understand instructions for the kids to grasp. Obviously, it was just what my son needed as his swimming skills have exploded. His weekly lesson experience fluctuates between "Aha!" moments and gaining proficiency. I know now that it wasn't him that was the problem with his
swimming, it was the instruction he was receiving (or not, as the case was.) I am extremely proud of him and the hard work he has put into these lessons. Thank you so much, Miss Deane, for bringing out the swimmer, and the confidence, my son had inside of him. Edyth Narlock"

SWIM LESSONS AT SUPERIOR ATHLETIC CLUB

Check out some comments from parents that have their children in our swim program at Superior Athletic Club located at 727 Cardley Avenue, Medford, OR 97504

Our story is not uncommon. We tried the other swim programs in the valley. Some were fun. Some were informative. Some were just plain scary. None were focused nor purposeful - teachers lacked passion and attentiveness. And all failed to deliver what we required, an instructor who commands respect and that motivates her student to swim and learn pool safety. Then one day we were steered in the direction of Miss Deane and everything changed. At our first lesson, our daughter's first instinct was to reach for a swim noodle and bob around until the timer buzzed or someone took interest in her. Not this time, "Is this noodle class or swim class?", asked Miss Deane. After a thoughtful pause, our daughter replied "Swim class, Miss Deane." And from that day forward, swimming is what was taught and learned.
Six months later Abby (4 1/2) can swim the length of the pool - from the "cold end" to the "warm end" using backstroke one lap and perhaps "rainbow arms" another time. She dives to the bottom - propels like a torpedo and most importantly - she has developed a respect for the water and for her teacher.
Thanks Miss Deane.
The Lazorisak Family

Three months ago we decided it was time for our daughter to become acclimated with swimming. Coming from a family of swimmers, we knew summers and vacations would revolve around water. I signed her up with Miss Deane because the talk was that she was "the instructor to go to" in the valley. We are new to the area and accustomed to people over glamorizing, having a master's in education I was skeptical, but thought we would give it a try. Even if Miss Deane was ok, she could still teach our daughter to swim couldn't she?
Miss Deane has continuously surpassed our expectations. She clearly has lesson plans from a large pool of techniques yet is able to adapt and customized each lesson based not only the children but their moods. Miss Deane treats the children with respect (which is vital for my three year old), has high expectations that challenge even the most stubborn of children and yet is caring and compassionate towards them when needed. Each class integrates new methods with the old. The children are forevermore being challenged and yet feel comfortable because they are always able to succeed.
I, too, now am one of those parents who proclaim Miss Deane's class to be "the class to go to" in the valley for swimming. If watching my three year old child float, working on strokes like the butterfly and swimming unassisted after less than three months wasn't enough, my daughter's begging to go to swim class does it.
