SWIM LESSONS AT SUPERIOR ATHLETIC CLUB

Check out some comments from parents that have their children in our swim program at Superior Athletic Club located at 727 Cardley Avenue, Medford, OR 97504

Our story is not uncommon. We tried the other swim programs in the valley. Some were fun. Some were informative. Some were just plain scary. None were focused nor purposeful - teachers lacked passion and attentiveness. And all failed to deliver what we required, an instructor who commands respect and that motivates her student to swim and learn pool safety. Then one day we were steered in the direction of Miss Deane and everything changed. At our first lesson, our daughter's first instinct was to reach for a swim noodle and bob around until the timer buzzed or someone took interest in her. Not this time, "Is this noodle class or swim class?", asked Miss Deane. After a thoughtful pause, our daughter replied "Swim class, Miss Deane." And from that day forward, swimming is what was taught and learned.
Six months later Abby (4 1/2) can swim the length of the pool - from the "cold end" to the "warm end" using backstroke one lap and perhaps "rainbow arms" another time. She dives to the bottom - propels like a torpedo and most importantly - she has developed a respect for the water and for her teacher.
Thanks Miss Deane.

Three months ago we decided it was time for our daughter to become acclimated with swimming. Coming from a family of swimmers, we knew summers and vacations would revolve around water. I signed her up with Miss Deane because the talk was that she was "the instructor to go to" in the valley. We are new to the area and accustomed to people over glamorizing, having a master's in education I was skeptical, but thought we would give it a try. Even if Miss Deane was ok, she could still teach our daughter to swim couldn't she?
Miss Deane has continuously surpassed our expectations. She clearly has lesson plans from a large pool of techniques yet is able to adapt and customized each lesson based not only the children but their moods. Miss Deane treats the children with respect (which is vital for my three year old), has high expectations that challenge even the most stubborn of children and yet is caring and compassionate towards them when needed. Each class integrates new methods with the old. The children are forevermore being challenged and yet feel comfortable because they are always able to succeed.
I, too, now am one of those parents who proclaim Miss Deane's class to be "the class to go to" in the valley for swimming. If watching my three year old child float, working on strokes like the butterfly and swimming unassisted after less than three months wasn't enough, my daughter's begging to go to swim class does it.
