More comments from parents that have their children in our program at Superior Athletic Club.

"I have known Deane Wilson for over three years as my children have been taking swim lessons with Ms Wilson at Superior Athletic Club. Both of my children who are 11 years old and 6 years old progress rapidly in their swimming ability with Ms Wilson's program. (I also have two older children (20 and 18 years old) and therefore had a lot of experiences with different swimming programs at different institutions including the YMCA (in Marin county, CA and Medford, OR), the Hawthorne pool, ABK, etc…)

I am extremely impressed with Ms Wilson's knowledge of children and her mastering of the art of teaching and the sport of swimming and her success with children:

~ Ms Wilson makes swimming fun through games and languages that meet children where they are at

~ Ms Wilson communicates extremely well with children as she brings the information to their level of
understanding and consciousness. In addition, Ms Wilson is firm with children about her expectations
without being strict or severe, which makes children respect her and listen to her instructions
   carefully.

~ Ms Wilson is very patient with children and introduces swimming skills gradually and keeps adding
them on. Ms Wilson produces amazing success in introducing difficult techniques to young children.
Her  students advance rapidly in developing correct stokes. She is great at building the children's
confidence in their ability to function in the water safely. She never requires children to do anything
that they are not comfortable doing in the water.

~ Ms Wilson teaches important water safety skills in addition to swimming techniques. She teaches
them how to handle different situations, i.e., how to rest in the water or how to use the back stroke
when they are tired. She is excellent at removing children's fear of being in water and makes the
children understand water safety rules, in addition to helping them feel safe and be self-sufficient
   in the water.

~ Ms Wilson is excellent at organizing her lessons and teaching a large group with multiple levels
   of skills.

~ Ms Wilson is very flexible in allowing for make-up lessons and work with parents on changing
the schedule when the need arises.

Ms Wilson is the best swimming instructor I have ever met in the last 15 years, I am glad that she is
part of the team of instructors at Superior Athletic Club. Her many talents are great gifts to children learning how to swim. I highly recommend her to any parent who are looking for a good swimming program.

Sincerely,

Daniele Anderson"

"Hi Miss Deane,

Here's Peyton's swim story.

We were on vacation at the Disneyland Hotel. Peyton (4, almost 5) wanted to go down the biggest of their watersides, but they only allow one person at a time. When he reached the bottom and came up, he tried to swim to the side of the pool, rather than the end where the stairs were. At that point he got caught in the current and wasn't making any progress. The lifeguard looked at my husband and said "We're going to have to go in and get him out." My husband told the lifeguard to wait, and just give him a minute. He then yelled "Peyton, TURTLES ARMS!" Peyton immediately started doing turtle arms, and got out of the current. They were the most beautiful turtle arms I'd ever seen! The lifeguard was shocked and said to us "I have NEVER seen a kid get out of that current before." He was totally impressed. And so were we. This situation really make it click with Peyton, and he sees how doing turtle arms makes all the difference in the world.
Thank you Miss Deane for teaching our son this valuable lesson. It really is the BEST way to teach our kids to swim!

  1. My granddaughter is about old enough to learn how to swim. Her mom wants to put her in a swimming instruction class. She's going to love it.

  2. I would love to put my son in swimming lessons this next summer. I think that we missed the deadline to sign him up for the spring sessions already. I just want him to be able to feel comfortable with the water before we take our trip to Hawaii. http://www.jerseywahoos.org
